ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Henry Lyman Sayen was both an American artist and scientist, working on and gaining patents for his inventions, such as a new type of x-ray tube. He was also a student of Henri Matisse in Paris and was the first artist to introduce modern art into the conservative culture of Philadelphia.
He is known for vibrant landscapes and vivid intricate abstract paintings.
